Position Summary:
Reporting to the Lead Combat Designer, Crystal Dynamics is on the hunt for an experienced Combat Systems Designer. This Designer will be responsible for working with the Lead Designer, Lead Combat designer and Game Directors to plan, prototype and build combat systems that directly apply to a 3rd person action adventure game. Design responsibilities include but are not limited to Enemy AI, combat behaviors, player weapons and tools, cover and melee based mechanics. These responsibilities require a high degree of knowledge and experience between code and content, as well as showing demonstrable on screen progress to from concept to ship. Both theory and hands on work will be required.
Essential Duties:
- Promote collaboration amongst combat designers and directors, objectively breakdown combat design principles and provide feedback when appropriate.
- Working with the Lead Designer, Lead Combat Designer and Directors to ensure all combat systems related to a 3rd person action adventure meets project needs and have consistent demonstrable onscreen progress through rapid prototypes and routine onscreen deliverables of all systems from paper to ship.
- Coordinate closely with AI programmers and Combat LD’s to communicate the goals and specific needs of various combat systems and provide regular updates to all related gameplay systems.
- Under minimal supervision, design, adapt and scope features to the needs of production, the technical constraints of the project and the overall gameplay goals.
- Evaluate and initiate processes and features needed to improve and streamline any combat related production.
- Maintain, test, iterate combat system-based features from concept phase to final tuning for an award winning Triple A game.
- Document game mechanics and features quickly, clearly and concisely in a provided specification format to serve as a resource for other designers in the studio to understand the various design concepts and the decisions made that support them.
- Work closely with AI Engineers to produce clear, concise and fun enemy behaviors, rules and assault combat systems that a wide variety of players can relate to.
Competencies, Skills & Knowledge:
- Clear, analytical thinker, with a proven ability to break gameplay design down into regular, reusable systems and articulate and document them.
- Understanding of combat system constraints as well as an understanding of game engine architecture and custom toolsets and able to deliver assets within the confines of real time engine constraints and programming demand
- Experience spec-ing and tuning particular combat game systems such as difficulty, weapon aim.
- Must have the ability to conceptualize, present, and execute ideas within a schedule, while actively participating in technical and design problem solving in engine.
- Demonstrable organized approach to problem solving and time-management to meet strict production deadlines
- Current on industry trends as it relates to modern combat design for 3rd person action adventure games.
- Ability to work closely with all project disciplines to ensure clear communication, troubleshooting and efficiency
- Excellent knowledge of game design theory and principles of what it takes to make a blockbuster triple A title.
Essential Requirements:
- 3-5 years of game design experience
- At least 1 AAA project shipped for current gen consoles in a combat systems design capacity, including primary responsibility involving one or more combat systems
- Visual scripting experience (Kismet, Blueprint, etc.)
Pluses:

Candidate Requirements
- 2+ years of industry related advertising experience.
- Knowledge of the media terminology and procedures within advertising sales.
- Must understand and be willing to efficiently perform duties from the start to finish of the sales proposal in an effort to properly maintain and steward client schedules.
- Be able to work independently, as well as part of a team. Willingness to help others and be a team player.

The Production Crew Manager will lead the charge in cultivating a strong culture that inspires and motivates our team of 50+ staff and 200+ temporary below-the-line crew members in Production, handling all facets of the employee life cycle (attraction, recruitment, hiring + onboarding, and training + development).
At the core of the role is maintaining a clear line of communication with our crew and overseeing their training + development. The Production Crew Manager will develop and administer talent assessments, regularly share feedback from a variety of stakeholders, and devise career development strategies for individual team members and departments.
This role supports the Director of Production and works closely with Production and Technical Management. The role also will be supported by crewing coordinators to manage personnel schedules according to our partners’ needs.
(Please note that this is a people management role, not a production management role. Our focus is on finding someone with a knack for leadership and nurturing talent.)
The Daily
- Serve as partners’ primary point of contact for all crew-related requests
- Work with Production Management and Crewing Coordinators to match crewing requests with the best available talent, keeping in mind a breadth of programming and production needs
- Manage below-the-line production crew members (both staff and temporary), making every effort to ensure they remain informed, engaged, and motivated
- Create robust talent development curriculum in partnership with Director of Production
- Fill and nurture a diverse pipeline of high-potential technical crew prospects for each technical discipline through our new Production Apprentice program
The Essentials
- 6-8+ years of management and/or leadership development experience, preferably in media or a comparable creative industry
- Experience with a wide variety of production formats and deep, nuanced understanding of crew roles – and their associated skill sets – needed for in-studio or on-location productions

The Production Manager of Entertainment Brands is responsible for connecting dots and tending to details in order to ensure that our entertainment, corporate, and non-broadcast productions, both in studio and on location, are executed successfully. We’re looking for a combination of high EQ, comfort with unusual requests and emerging formats, masterful organizational skills, and innate motivation to see a big, ever-changing slate of projects through.This role serves as connective tissue between our brand partners, production crew, operations team, facilities, vendors, and more – tracking plans and budgets, devising solutions for the kinds of unusual challenges that arise with every new show or one-off project, and over-communicating to keep everyone in the know every step of the way. The role also partners with our internal technical and engineering teams, managing projects related to our technical production infrastructure. One thing to note, we work in a sort of “breaking news” type environment so working nights and weekends isn’t uncommon. There’s also a bit of travel involved, but would only be around 30% of the role.

The Essentials

You have 6+ years of live studio television production management experience

You're no newbie to budgeting, reconciling, forecasting, and creating financial projections in excel

You have experience with a wide variety of production formats (especially digital / specialty) and a deep understanding of crew roles needed for in-studio or on-location productions

You're an excellent people manager with a strong innate desire to develop the skills of and bring out the best in production craftspeople, both full-time staff and temporary employees

You have a strong technical background to intuitively translate creative vision into a clear logistical complement, as well as supporting the development of critical skills our crew members need

You're adept at building strong relationships with network production teams, directors, engineers, and technical managers alike

You knock it out of the park when it comes to clear, concise communication skills whether its written or verbal and can tailor and present your ideas to a wide variety of audiences

Your Opportunity
We have an opening for a Production Manager of Live Sports in our Atlanta, Georgia office with our Turner Studios group. In this role you’ll be responsible for connecting dots and tending to details in order to ensure that our live sports content (NBA, NCAA, UEFA, ELEAGUE and more), both in studio and on location, are executed successfully. We’re looking for a rare combination of technical savvy, high EQ, and masterful organizational skills that’s motivated by the challenge of keeping a fast-moving, constantly rerouting train on the rails.This role serves as connective tissue between our brand partners, production crew, operations team, facilities, vendors, and more – tracking plans and budgets, devising solutions for problems that inevitably arise in a live environment, and over-communicating to keep everyone in the know every step of the way. The role also partners with our internal technical and engineering teams, managing projects related to our technical production infrastructure.
One thing to note, we work in a sort of “breaking news” type environment so working nights and weekends isn’t uncommon. There’s also a bit of travel involved, but would only be around 10% of the role.
The Daily

Serve as a primary point of contact for technical and personnel needs related to all live sports productions.

Manage day-to-day production needs for multiple brands (NBA, NCAA, UEFA, ELEAGUE), working closely with content team, technical operations, and other partners.

Engage with networks to review live productions and advise on opportunities for continuous improvement.

Coordinate with linear production/operations teams to schedule feeds and organize remote broadcasts.
